A company called Isotechnika, Inc. just completed a phase III trial of their drug ISA247. The drug, like cyclosporine is a calcineurin inhibitor however it appears to be slightly stronger. Serious side effects with drugs of this class often take longer than a short trial period like the one studied, so more information would be re-assuring before declaring this drug a real breakthrough vs. cyclosporine.
