I am not your doctor, therefore I can not answer any questions about your particular medical situation. For example I can not let you know if you have psoriasis via email, how you should treat it, is a certain medicine right for you etc. I can answer questions such as "where can find a doctor near me who treats psoriasis?"
The bottom line is I can not answer any emails which could in any sense be interpreted as giving you specific medical advice. To do such would create a doctor/patient relationship sight unseen which is not only inadvisable, it is not legal under Florida law where I practice. Thanks in advance for understanding the limited nature of any advice I can give you as a licensed physician.
Certainly there are questions which will be asked time and again, and in these circumstances, I'll do my best to address the subject on the website itself either as a blog entry, forum entry or article in which case all those with similar questions can benefit.
Please see more examples of questions I could or could not answer below:
F.A.Q.
- Q. Can I send you a photo of my skin so that you can tell me if I have psoriasis or not?
- A. Absolutely not - to do so would create a doctor/patient relationship.
- Q. Can you tell me whether or not I can use methotrexate in view of the fact I drink one or two beers every day?
- A. Again, no for the same reason as #1
- Q. Can you tell me if in general, methotrexate affects the liver and if there is any conflict with its use in patients who may also drink alcohol?
- A. I can give you my opinion in general on this matter and hopefully point you to a source of further information on the subject.
- Q. My doctor says to use product A. I thought it causes birth defects. I plan to start a family soon. Do you think I should use it or not?
- A. Again, see the answer to number 1 above.
- Q. I understand product A causes birth defects. Should this product therefore be avoided in women of childbearing age?
- A. I can give you my opinion in general on this matter and hopefully point you to a source of further information on the subject.
