Get Armed with Knowledge

Know a bit about treatment options for psoriasis in general. You don't have to know the names of medications, but you should be aware of the different treatment options that your doctor may offer so that you can be active in the decision making process. Possible treatments include:
  • topical creams
  • phototherapy or treatment with ultraviolet light
  • systemic pills
  • systemic injections
You may have already decided some of these are not for you. For example, can you spare the time for the three office visits per week that phototherapy entails? Are you so afraid of needles that you can't imagine giving yourself an injection which is needed for biologic therapy?
