Definition: The most common form of psoriasis. Thickened, scaly, red areas of skin greater than 1 cm in diameter form these plaques. They typically appear over bony areas like elbows and knees with a sharp distinction between the plaque and normal skin.
Also Known As: Psoriasis Vulgaris (common psoriasis)
Examples: The scaly red lesions typical of plaque-type psoriasis commonly involve elbows, knees and sacrum (tailbone).
