Definition: A severe form of psoriasis marked by tiny pinpoint pustules or white heads on fiery red skin. This can occur spontaneously, or after treatment with certain medications. For example, use and then rapid withdrawal of systemic corticosteroids may trigger a whole-body flare up of pustular psoriasis known as von Zumbusch type for the doctor who first described this.
Also Known As: Generalized Pustular Psoriasis
Examples: My psoriasis used to be limited to my elbows and knees. But after I ended a long course of prednisone for bronchitis, my psoriasis flared up badly into pustular psoriasis covering most of my body.
