Definition:

Systemic psoriasis treatments or "systemics" for short are treatments taken internally to treat the skin. The drugs can be in the form of swallowed liquids, pills or injections. Such injections are given either under the skin (subcutaneously), deep in to the thigh or hip (intramuscular) or in to a vein (intravenous). Examples of systemic drugs for psoriasis include methotrexate and all the biologics.

Other treatment forms for psoriasis include topical treatments, such as creams and ointments and phototherapy (treatment with light rays).
