Know Thyself

Sometimes your past medical or social history is critical in deciding what treatments you should take. For example, a patient with liver disease or who is actively drinking alcohol shouldn't take Methotrexate for their psoriasis. Those with a personal or family history of multiple sclerosis may wish to avoid Enteracept. Your doctor needs to know all about you before prescribing many of the drugs used in psoriasis.

Some of your existing medications may conflict with your psoriasis treatment. For example many medications make you sensitive to sunlight, making phototherapy problematic. Your doctor needs a complete list of all your current medications. Finally, he will need to know any drugs you are allergic to.
